The trial of
Armin Meiwes has ended. The Cannibal of Rotenburg has received 8 years for manslaughter (
not murder), but with good behavior, he could be out in four.
- "The famous lust for murder was not there. The killing was very unpleasant for Meiwes," the judge said. "There were no base motives."
An incredible statement, given the details recently released about Meiwes' behavior after the killing:
- Meiwes also told the magazine he had used one of his victim's feet as a table ornament and had tried to make flour by grating an arm bone after first baking it in the oven. He buried Brandes' bones, skin and innards in the garden while reciting the 23rd psalm: "The Lord is my shepherd and I shall not want ..."
The magazine also revealed that Meiwes believed that after eating Brandes, who spoke good English, his own English had improved.
Meiwes famously cut off the penis of his still-living "victim," Berndt Brandes, which he then fried in garlic and butter. According to television news reports, the cooked penis was too tough to be eaten.
Hollywood has come knocking for the cannibal's story, which has become internationally known.
- Last night legal experts described the case and its extraordinary denouement as unprecedented. "This will make legal history," Professor Arthur Kreuzer of the Institute for Criminology at Giessen University said. "The killer sought out his victim and the victim sought out his killer."
Meiwes' memoirs are said to be forthcoming, though the writing has not yet begun.

- In No. 29 of the Nathalie Guillot ward there is a young girl, aged 21, a saleswoman in the Markets, who entered the Hospital for a syphilitic affection. You will observe in her case characteristic signs of Saphism carried to an exaggerated degree owing to the frequency and duration of the act. This woman in fact states that for several years past, she has been saphised by her lover almost every night, and often two or three times in the night. The clitoris is remarkable for its size, which is that of the little finger of an adult man. It is almost normal on a level with its upper portion, but at the root it suddenly swells towards its lower third, so as to form a hard, rounded mass, projecting and raised at its free extremity. Exact account may be taken of the action of suction upon this portion of the clitoris which is brought forward and upward. The gland is voluminous, of the size of a large pea, and violet in colour; the frena are considerably hypertrophied.

- As for the third mode of masturbation, that is to say clitoridian friction or suction, or Saphism, the signs which characterize the vulvary deformations springing from it, are as clear and precise as the preceding. They at the same time share the characteristics produced by masturbation. In this there is nothing surprising, since Saphism, as I have said, consists in clitoridian friction by means of the tongue, and by the mouth being at the same time applied to the free edge of the hood and to the clitoridian gland.
The vulvary deformations, in fact, due to Saphism are characterized by an elongation of the whole clitoridian organ, and by a wrinkled and flaccid appearance of the sheath and hood which is partly detached from the gland. The latter is partly uncovered, and is voluminous and turgescent. These characteristics belong to clitoridian friction. Through suction, some of them are more accentuated; and others, which did not exist in the former case are developed. Thus, the prominence of the clitoris is more marked, forming a projection between the labia majora.
The hood especially is voluminous; it is completely detached from the clitoridian gland which, for the greater part of the time, it leaves uncovered. It is slightly elevated in an upward direction, forming in this way, above the gland, a projecting fold which may be compared to a helmet. At the same time its free edge is thickened and is of a firmer consistency. The frena of the clitoris, folds formed by the division into two of the anterior extremity of the nymphæ, are the more accentuated, more projecting and thicker; they also have more consistency. These modifications of appearance and structure are sometimes observed to a distance of two or three millimetres beneath, on the free edge of the nymphæ. The gland is very developed and very projecting, and, while it is elongated, its extremity also is swollen. Its transversal diameter is increased; it is slightly flattened at the edges, projecting and a little arched at its medial portion; in a word it is club shaped; its appearance resembles the deformation which it undergoes in masturbation through the rubbing of the thighs; but it differs from it through the arched projection of the mesial portion which is accentuated by the fact of suction.
Its coloration is an intense red, sometimes violet; there is an almost constant turgescence, especially when Saphism is of daily performance and practised several times in the course of the twenty-four hours, as you may observe in the case of tribades living together, and also in the case of some women who are married or living in concubinage.

- The different means employed to practice clitoridian friction and masturbation, while throwing out of shape the different constituent parts of the vulva, may also give rise to local lesions. Thus you may observe inflammation of the clitoris and of the hood, traumatic balano-chlamyditis, as I have remarked its existence in a patient. The inflammation was constituted by redness, by an augmentation of the local temperature, and by a tumefaction of the organ. This traumatic inflammation is the ordinary result of an erosion produced by scratches with the nails; it is long in healing.
Lastly, as a consequence of masturbation performed by another person, you will frequently observe upon the clitoris, nymphæ, vestibule and urinary meatus, small white cicatrices in the shape of a crescent, traces of ulcerations resulting from scratches.
At the present time, you can observe these lesions in a patient, aged 18, lying in No. 18 of the Nathalie Guillot ward. Besides the clitoridian deformations of sodomy, there are on the left surface of the clitoris four or five small white cicatrices, as well as a small and very superficial wound in the shape of a crescent, the commencement of which dates back five or six days. The patient confesses that her lover masturbates her every day and that he very often hurts her with his finger while doing so.
In this enumeration of accidents resulting from manual masturbation, I ought not to forget the inflammation of the vulvo-vaginal glands and their suppuration.
This inflammation is traumatic. It results from a brutal and rapid friction, performed not only on the clitoris, but on the whole vulva.
I have noticed this symptom of masturbation every year. It would be easy for me to relate thirty observations of it.

- Police in Japan say a man's dead body was ignored by crowds on a busy street corner for two months.
The body was found in front of a popular department store in the crowded downtown area of Osaka, Japan's second-largest city.
It is believed to be that of a homeless man in his late 60s or early 70s and was only removed after a taxi driver finally alerted authorities.
A police spokesman said it was partially decomposed by the time authorities collected it earlier this month.
The corner is among the busiest in the city, with about a million people passing through the area each day.

- We have mentioned the different processes employed by Saphists for reciprocal satisfaction.
Firstly there is friction of the two external organs of generation, vulva against vulva, the two women being in the classical position and one of them acting as the male. This, as we have said, is Tribadism, which is rather rare.
At other times, the two women masturbate one another reciprocally by friction of the clitoris. This friction is most commonly effected with the finger or with the tongue. In the latter case, there is suction at the same time. It is to this variety of masturbation that the name of Saphism is given. It is conceivable that two passionate women may adopt the inverse position called 69, which allows them to satisfy one another at the same time.
Lastly, as we have already pointed out, some women make use of the most incongruous objects to take the place of the penis in their vagina, and that some of them supply its place with an artificial penis made of india-rubber called a godemiché, which is either manoeuvred by themselves, or strapped round the hips of an obliging friend, who acts the man on condition that the same is done to her.
I need not recur here to the lesions produced by this particular kind of exercise which is connected at the same time with masturbation and Tribadism. I shall limit myself to an examination of the deformations which accompany Saphism properly so-called. . . [More to follow]
